Report: The War Z Servers Hit With DDoS Attacks

According to MCV the game servers for Hammerpoint Interactive's The War Z game have been the target of a DDoS attack over the last couple of days. Earlier this week Hammerpoint's Sergey Titov apologized to the community for his comments about fans complaining about the game's lack of promised features, but apparently individuals upset over the online-focused zombie apocalypse game are still angry. In a post on the official forum for the game, the developers of The War Z explained why owners of the game might be having trouble connecting with game servers.

"Guys over the last few days we have been under attack by various forums of malicious attempts to shut down our servers," the studio said on its forums. "First we were hit with an attack that would rest our DNS IP so that you could not connect. This was solved a couple days ago early in the morning but took time to actually resolve worldwide once the fix went in."

"This morning we are being hit, again, with a DDoS attack on our login server," the post continued. "We are implementing additional DDoS protection and hope to have this resolved asap. Unfortunately with these types of attacks it is very difficult to give a good time frame of when it will be resolved."

We will have more on this situation as it develops.

They did actually threaten users with blacklisting them if they asked for a refund before the game was released on steam.

Even before release, there were a lot of shady things going down over on WarZ, so a lot of the responses were not at all surprising, whether just vocal or more malicious like DDoS attacks.

If you don't like something I said in a post, don't just hit the dislike, let me know your thoughts! I'm interested in knowing everyone's opinions, even when they don't mesh with my own.

Not surprising given the way they treated the community initially…

What is surprising is that it hasn't gone further than that… i'd be watching my credit report if i had that game…
