Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 50 million times on iOS, Android and Kindle devices, according to developer Imangi Studios. The latest game from Imangi Studios reached that milestone in just 13 days, breaking the previously set record for the fastest growing mobile game (Angry Birds held the previous record with 50 million downloads in 35 days in April of 2012).
Temple Run 2 originally launched exclusively on the Apple App Store on January 17 and quickly climbed to the #1 slot in Free Apps, with over six million downloads in less than 24 hours. Following a release on Google Play and Amazon Marketplace, the game quickly rose to the #1 spot in both stores.
"Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us," says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi. "The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time."
Naturally Imangi hopes that its sequel will surpass the original game, which has been downloaded collectively 170 million times...
