Torment: Tides of Numenera Stretch Goal: Hire Planescape Torment Designer Chris Avellone

The newest Kickstarter stretch goal for Torment: Tides of Numenera won't add any new bells and whistles into the game, but it will add an important person into the creative mix. inXile Entertainment's upcoming RPG will secure the services of Planescape Torment designer Chris Avellone if the Kickstarter surpass the $3.5 million mark. With 14 days to go, the Kickstarter would need to generate roughly $700,00 more to hit that mark. That seems like a lot until you consider that this game generated $900,000 in just seven hours after it first launched.

Here's more from the Kickstarter page:

"At $3.5M, Chris will be joining our design team. He’ll have two primary roles. First, he will be reviewing and providing feedback on all creative elements of the game, including the story, characters, and areas. His input will be invaluable as a resource to Colin in further detailing the creative vision for the game. Second, he’ll be designing and writing an eighth companion for the game, working with Colin and Monte to craft a companion ideal for both Torment and the Ninth World of Numenera."

Avellone was the lead designer for Planescape: Torment, co-founder and Creative Director at Obsidian Entertainment, and worked with inXile on Wasteland 2 last year, including designing the area showcased in the gameplay first look video. Obsidian is working on its own Kickstarter funded RPG called Project Eternity. inXile says that Avellone's work on the new PlaneScape title will not impact Obsidian's current project.
