Larian Studios is off to a rousing start with its Kickstarter for its new Divinity computer role-playing game Divinity: Original Sin. The game, which adds another chapter to the long running series, will be self-published by Larian and is well into its development cycle at this point. The series used to be published by German publisher JoWooD, but that is no longer an option for obvious reasons.
Larian describes Divinity: Original Sin as an Isometric CRPG for Windows (plans for a Mac and Linux are being strongly considered) that will be DRM-free and available via Steam and Good Old Games. The game will feature turn-based tactical combat, plenty of areas to explore, cooperative play, a classless character stat and skill system, music composed by the brilliant Kirill Pokrovsky, and an RPG editor to build your own content for the game.
As of this writing Divinity: Original Sin has garnered $90,798 in funding from over 2,000 backers with 29 more days to go. Larian hopes to raise $400,000 and is offering some interesting rewards tiers to make the campaign successful.
