Diablo III: One Year Later

May 22, 2013 -

It's been a year since Blizzard launched Diablo III to the masses, and even though it struggled in the beginning because the game requires a constant connection in order to play (and servers were constantly going down during the launch window), players eventually were able to play and enjoy the game.

To celebrate being online for a full year, Blizzard has created an infographic packed with all kinds of nifty statistics. According to the infographic, players have spent over 930 years in the world of Diablo III. The highest number of players since launch has been 5.8 million, with more than 2.1 million players still playing each day.

The total number of hours played for Diablo III is over 2.8 billion, with an average of 8.2 million hours played per day. Blizzard also claims that 67.1 million characters have been created worldwide since the game launched a year ago, and only nine percent of those characters are Hardcore mode characters. The most popular character - according to Blizzard - is the Demon Hunter, followed by the Wizard, the Barbarian, Monk, and Witch Doctor.
