Harvey Smith’s ‘Big Jack is Dead’ Free for a Limited Time

Harvey Smith's new book Big Jack is Dead was released on Amazon.com in early April and has been generally received with praise and accolades. Now for a limited time you can download it and read it for free on your iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire-based devices.

The novel focuses on a young boy growing up in the Gulf Cost in the early 1970's and later in Silicon Valley in the 1990's when the tech bubble popped. Smith, who is best known for his work on Deus Ex, System Shock, and most recently Dishonored, draws quite a bit of inspiration from his own life in this fictional work. Smith's protagonist in the book (Jack Hickman) is an antisocial software exec loosely based on his own troubled childhood and the more traumatic moments of his life including his mother's overdose and his father's suicide.

You can find Big Jack is Dead for free right here. You can also read a couple of reviews here: Kotaku and Kirkus Reviews.
