The PC version of Mojang's popular open-world sandbox game Minecraft has hit the 11 million sales mark, according to Mojang co-founder and Minecraft developer Markus "Notch" Persson. The PC version of the game debuted in 2009.
Mojang – with the help of various partners – ultimately ported the game to Xbox Live Arcade, iOS, and Android. The game has also been ported to the Linux operating system and the Mac. To date, Minecraft has sold over 27 million copies across all available platforms.
Persson revealed the milestone via a recent tweet:
Minecraft has now sold 11 million copies on PC/Mac/Linux! That's more than the number of atoms in the observable universe!
