Poll: Which Video Game Voice Actor’s Performance Will You Miss Most?

If you're a huge video game dork like me, you may have noticed that a few classic video game protagonists are getting new voice actors for the next installments in their respective franchises.

Michael Ironside has voiced Sam Fisher in all six Splinter Cell games since the first title debuted in 2002.  In the upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Fisher will be voiced by Eric Johnson.

David Hayter has been the English voice for Snake in all the Metal Gear Solid games (about 6 games, depending how you count) since the original in 1998.  He has been replaced by Kiefer Sutherland in next year's Metal Gear Solid V.

Stephen Russell voiced Garret in all three Thief games.  The original came out in 1998.  A forth title in the series (simply titled "Thief") will see Romano Orzari take over the role.

Some of you may shrug and say "so what?" while others will rage like someone just kicked their kitten.  Point your eyeballs over to the right and you'll find this week's poll which asks which actor's performance you'll miss most.  Vote in the poll, leave a comment, send us mail at SuperPACpodcast@gmail.com then tune in to next week's podcast where EZK and I will reveal the results and give the entire subject a thorough vetting.

It may be a rather short vetting though.  I don't think EZK has played any of those games.  But I'm sure he'll be happy to regale us with his love of waffles!

While I can agree that you can kinda hear that Hayter is doing a voice while playing Snake, the fact remains that, his exact voice is an iconic part of the series by now. Not to mention that Hayter seems like great guy.

In an interview on some podcast (too lazy to find it again, but I managed to find another interview where he mentions it, on http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/metalgear/davidhayter.htm), he told them that the originally, Twins Snakes was supposed to have all new cast with the execption of Hayter himself, and that Hayter was the one that convinced them to get as much of the original cast as possible as he knows how much it means to the fans.

On another note, why is MGS5 imdb page telling me that Troy baker Will be Ocelot? Seriously, stop using the guy for everything.

Yup. You can see it on his face whenever he does the voice on camera. He's my absolute favorite Joker voice, but I think at this point in the series he's earned a reprieve from doing it.

I thought about it but ultimately decided against it.  I'll go into why on the next podcast.

That said, I'm also a huge fan of Conroy and Hamill's work as those characters over the last couple decades.

You forgot my personal biggest disappointment: Arkham Origins… it's ditching both Kevin Conroy as Batman (new actor: Roger Craig Smith, aka Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed) and Mark Hamill as the Joker (new actor: Troy Baker, aka Joel from The Last Of Us and Booker Dewitt from Bioshock Infinite).

I think they'll both do a fine job, but I grew up with Conroy & Hamill.

My beef is with David Hayter not being the next role. Supposedly, Kojima had said that they wanted to take the game in a new direction, however I hear the Japanese game will retain the original voice actor. I also see that there is a character named 'Emmerich' I have a feeling that he will be related in some way to Otacon. I wonder if Christopher Randolph will be voicing him. Who knows. Anyway Hayter's treatment has me not wanting to get this one, and the game looks good from what I have seen so far.

Oh my god, I raged for about a week over the Hayter thing.  Didn't know it was Kiefer Sutherland replacing him, though.  WTF, KojiPro?  W?  T?  F?
