Shadow of the Eternals Funding Campaign Falls Short

The latest efforts to fund Shadow of the Eternals – a spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness from Precursor Games – has come up short on Kickstarter, but the developers behind the game vow to keep trying, saying that they have "not given up." The Kickstarter campaign recently ended, raising $323,950 of its $750,000 goal from 5,932 backers. Earlier in the year Precursor Games launched a Kickstarter and canceled it when it didn't garner the amount of attention it had hoped it would (at the time it claimed an exciting opportunity related to the game had come up).

In a lengthy update on the Kickstarter campaign page, Precursor Games thanked fans for their continued support, and promised that it would  "pursue other avenues" to bring the game to market.

Had it been fully funded, Shadow of the Eternals was tentatively scheduled for launch in October 2014 on PC and Wii U.

You can check out the statement from Precursor Games (from its Kickstarter page) below:

"We here at Precursor Games would like to thank everyone who were involved in supporting, developing and promoting Shadow of the Eternals and its Kickstarter campaign.

We are grateful to those who not only backed this project, but also those who stood behind us every step of the way on this adventurous journey. The Order of the Unseen actively collaborated with us to create Shadow of the Eternals, and unwaveringly campaigned to help bring the game to life. When we began, we never imagined that we would meet so many amazing and creative people. Our community made this venture entirely worth it. Thank you for everything.

We would also like to thank our partners, whom without their support we would not have been able to launch this crowd-funding campaign: We would like to thank David Hayter for his collaboration and lending his voice acting talent to Shadow of the Eternals. To Reverb, for their tireless efforts in helping promote our game and crowdfunding campaign. To AMD and Crytek, for their technology and business partnerships and making them very worthwhile. Ray Muzyka for his endorsement of us and Shadow of the Eternals.

After we take a one week break, we will be upgrading the forum software to help improve the experience of our community. The Order forums will remain open for all those who have pledged on the Kickstarter for the next few weeks.

It is unfortunate that we were unable to crowd-fund this project at this time, but we have not given up. We intend to pursue other avenues with the ultimate goal of having our games come to fruition. Please feel free to migrate over to our Community Forums at, as we will be keeping our forums open for people to enjoy and discuss everything Precursor Games."
