MineCraft for PC Hits 12 Million in Sales

September 3, 2013 - GamePolitics Staff

Mojang's hit open-world building game Minecraft shows no sign of slowing down. According to a tweet from MineCraft creator Marcus "Notch" Persson, the PC version of the game has managed to sell 12 million copies to-date. That's one million new copies sold since June. That figure lumps games sold on Mac, Linux, and Windows platforms.

The life-to-date sales of MineCraft on all available platforms stands at 33 million units.

MineCraft is currently available on mobile devices, the PC, and Xbox 360. The game will be released on Xbox One at the end of this year, and it will eventually be released on PS3, PS Vita and PlayStation 4.

On a slightly related note, Mojang announced that the Mass Effect crossover DLC for MineCraft would soon be available on the Xbox 360 version of the game.
