PSA: Battlefield 4 Beta Opening Up to All Players

October 4, 2013 - GamePolitics Staff

If you wanted to get into the Battlefield 4 beta but weren't a Battlefield 3 Premium purchaser, then you'll be happy to hear that the online multiplayer beta test for EA's and DICE's military first-person shooter is being opened up to the public.

The beta test offers an early sampling of the game's Siege of Shanghai map in Conquest and Domination modes. The closed beta kicked off on October 1 for Battlefield 3 Premium members, customers who pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game on Origin.com, and those who bought and registered the Limited or Digital Deluxe editions of Medal of Honor Warfighter.

DICE said this morning that the Open Beta would kick off today:

PC: 1 AM PDT/9 AM UTC (9am BST)
Xbox 360 worldwide: 2-6 AM PDT (10am-2pm BST)
PlayStation 3 (Europe): 7-11 AM PDT (3pm - 7pm BST)
PlayStation 3 (US): 11 AM PDT (7pm- BST)

The final game will ship with seven multiplayer modes playable on ten maps. It will be released on October 29 in the US and November 1 in the UK on current gen consoles and PC. Xbox One and PS4 versions will be console launch titles later in November.

You can get in on the beta here.

Re: PSA: Battlefield 4 Beta Opening Up to All Players

Never will understand why people will flock to the beta's and stay there leaving the other games empty...

I mean i can understand the want of getting a taste of it and all, and BF4 does not disappoint, but all stats are erased, and all time spent in game is thrown out the door upon release...

worse over is when the game does release a fair chunk of servers are terrible 24/7 single map from the beta servers.... brilliant!... oh wait, wrong word.. boring!.. thats better.

Re: PSA: Battlefield 4 Beta Opening Up to All Players

Mostly because it is free.

A lot of people don't care if all of their progress and stats get deleted, they just play it for fun.

Re: PSA: Battlefield 4 Beta Opening Up to All Players

shhh don't say that out loud, someone might hear you!

I usually play strictly for fun too, but when there is progress to be made, its a flat out kick in the nuts to have it all lost in so short a time and over nothing more than server migration and an update. Doesn't dull the pain just telling yourself its for fun anymore :p Thats hours blown out the door regardless.

Usually when anyone brings up playing "for fun" and not competitively for unlocks theres a mass shit storm.. Thats where my question comes from tbh.  So many people put so much emphasis on the unlocks and levels, competition, k/d ratios, win/loss ratios, etc... that Its funny to see them jump ship to a beta and blow two weeks just to lose it all and barely twitch.

But say your going to reset stats back a week when the titles only been out for 2 or 3 weeks.. yeahhhh omfg you can't reinforce the floodgates enough!
