Small Number of PS4 Streamers Get Banned on Twitch

As PS4 users find new, exciting and sometimes questionable ways to stream content, Twitch shows them who's boss with a handful of bans. Apparently the streaming service is not pleased with some of the content being streamed by a select few PS4 owners. In addition to cracking down on non-gaming content, Twitch has banned a small number of accounts for streaming inappropriate content and inappropriate conversations that go against parts of its terms of service.

Most of the questionable content involves The Playroom, the pre-installed PS4 app that lets PS4 owners utilize the PlayStation Camera. These users are finding some interesting things to do with it. Some examples include a broadcast of an impromptu call-in show, an unconscious strip show and other inappropriate content.

Twitch banned the account that hosted the strip show and began shutting down Playroom streams that featured inappropriate comments. The company also reiterated its ToS.

"FYI: We continue to moderate according to our Terms of Service," wrote the company. "Non-gaming content is not allowed. Non-gaming content (c): If using PS4 Playroom, the content must be about games or gaming and within our ToS. Thanks for understanding. Discussing gaming is gaming content. There are numerous such channels on Twitch, such as One More Game."

Twitch also issued a statement to Kotaku:

"Twitch has a very strict terms of service policy which is outlined here," the service added in a statement provided to Kotaku. "We are very vigilant about removing content that breaks the TOS guidelines and depending on the severity of the violation we will either ban or suspend accounts. In addition to our own efforts, the Twitch community is unique in that it likes to flag content they suspect or know is a breach of our TOS."

I guess you don't know until you try. Now that users have been warned, they had best be careful and not try and be cute with this streaming service anymore.
