The Awesome Games Done Quick 2014 event, which took place last week, managed to generate $1,013,831 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The event, which was broadcast all week via Twitch saw some of the world's best speedrunners complete Portal, Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Skyrim (among others) as quickly as is humanly possible.
The annual event only generated $50,000 last year, making this year's marathon gaming session a grand and wonderful milestone. By the end of the event, the group of skilled gamers managed to complete 155 games in record-breaking times – and they did it all in the name of charity.
They have our respect and admiration for their fine charitable work and their impressive gaming skills. Congratulations to all involved!
