Batman Arkham Origins DLC Cancelled for Wii U

January 31, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Warner Bros. has cancelled the planned downloadable content for the Wii U game Arkham Origins and refunded customers who purchased the DLC-associated Season Pass.

Nintendo said that the DLC was canceled because demand for it was "low." Obviously fans who bought the Season Pass would disagree. Wii U owners who purchased a season pass for the Arkham Origins DLC will be refunded with eShop credit, Nintendo said.

Apparently this cancelation is only for Wii U, as customers who bought a Season Pass on Xbox 360 and PS3 have not been told that the DLC has been canceled.

The full message - from GoNintendo - is below:

Thanks so much for your support of Batman: Arkham Origins on Wii U.

We are contacting you today because you purchased the Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass for Wii U. We hope you've been enjoying the content that has been delivered thus far. Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U.

As a result, we will be crediting the entire $19.99+tax cost of the Season Pass back to your Nintendo eShop account. You will still be able to enjoy the content already released thus far.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your support of the game.

Sincerely, Nintendo of America Inc.

Re: Batman Arkham Origins DLC Cancelled for Wii U

What was that about no cut content or DLC from the Wii U version?

Re: Batman Arkham Origins DLC Cancelled for Wii U

Was it Warner Bros or Nintendo who promised that?

Re: Batman Arkham Origins DLC Cancelled for Wii U

Warner Bros made it clear (at least to me apparently) that the DLC would be coming out for the Wii U version (obviously minus the multiplayer portions) so I took the hook and bought the season pass.  They wonder why no one has purchased much of the DLC seperately when all they have had were a few costumes and some maps for the fighting and sneaking games.  People are waiting for real single player content and they decided to drop it before even giving it a chance.

Wow, they should give you your money back!

Re: Batman Arkham Origins DLC Cancelled for Wii U

That's what I figured since Nintendo has some DLC support on both Eshops.
