Rust Surpasses One Million in Sales on Steam Early Access

February 11, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Rust creator Garry Newman says that his game has managed to sell over one million copies through Steam's Early Access program. The game, which is still in the early stages of development started off as a clone of DayZ, but recent changes like the removal of zombies have made the game more about survival than survival horror.

The news was revealed by Newman via a link on Twitter. That link, found here, shows a picture of his Steam page with the total number of sales at 1,001,570. The game was released on Steam Early Access on December 11.

Prior to creating Rust, Newman developed the ultra popular Garry's Mod.
