Watch Dogs Gets a New R18+ Rating in Australia

March 12, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Watch Dogs has been reclassified in Australia and will come with more content warnings when it is released this Spring, according to CVG. The open-world hacking-themed action game was originally classified by the Australian Classification Board in September last year with a rating of MA15+.

But a recent reevaluation of the game (spurred, no doubt, by its recent delay) have added more descriptors for the game and a higher rating of R18+. The game originally carried descriptors for "Strong Impact for violence and themes," and mild impact for drug use.

The new descriptors carried by the game include high impact for violence and themes, strong impact for sex, and strong impact for drug use.

Ubisoft announced last week that Watch Dogs will release May 27 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The Wii U version will follow at a "later date."

Lets see if this will be yet another game that will be 'withheld' from the Australian public.
