Blizzard’s European Servers Suffer DDoS Attacks

The European servers for several of Blizzard's most popular games suffered from a distributed denial of service on March 30 and 31. According to a post on and the European user forums for Diablo III. Blizzard confirmed that performance issues related to several of its games in Europe were affected by attacks and that they are "investigating" the situation. Games that were affected include Diablo III, World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Hearthstone.

"Diablo, World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Hearthstone players may be impacted by high latency and disconnections during their gaming experience that are the result of a series of DDoS attacks on certain European online services," the company wrote in an update on

"Although Blizzard's infrastructure isn't targeted, the disruption effects rippled and have been felt by a portion of our players' population. While we are closely monitoring the situation we wanted to thank you for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
