‘Chaos Reborn’ Crowd Funding Campaign Inches Towards Goal

The crowd funding campaign for Chaos Reborn is well over the halfway mark, with 14 more days to go until it expires on Kickstarter. The game is being developed by Julian Gollop, the co-creator of the hit tactical strategy PC game, X-COM. As of this writing the game has generated $115,958 of its $180,000 goal from 2,870 backers with 14 more days to go.

Chaos Reborn is a reimagining of the classic cult classic ZX Spectrum game ‘Chaos’, first published in 1985 by Games Workshop. Gollop says that the fantasy strategy game is part sequel, part re-imagining of that original game brought up-to-date with high quality presentation. Fans old enough to remember that game will be happy to hear that the magic combat system remains true to the original. The core gameplay centers around powerful wizards summoning "weird and mythical creatures" to combat other powerful magic users in the game.

Other features include a turn-based combat system, multiplayer and cooperative play, procedurally generated 3D battle arenas with various types of terrain and different levels of elevation that affect gameplay, and lots of spells to master and use against your enemies.

So what will Gollop and his team use the Kickstarter funds for? Here's what he says on his Kickstarter page:

"I have been working on Chaos Reborn for over a year, refining the game design, creating a playable prototype and building my team. With your help I will use the Kickstarter funds to put my small but talented team to work full time on Chaos Reborn with the objective of completing the game by May 2015. I have set up a new development company called Snapshot Games Inc., and the development studio will be established here in Sofia, Bulgaria, where I have been living for the last eight years. I will use my extensive experience as a designer and producer build a highly effective and creative development studio. Snapshot Games will be solely dedicated to working on Chaos Reborn until completion."
