Speeding Train Nearly Kills Sen. Richard Blumenthal While He Promotes Train Safety

What's faster than a speeding train? Apparently U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who was nearly clipped by one at a press conference on Friday while standing on a train platform. Ironically enough, Sen. Blumenthal (who is known on GamePolitics as a politician keen on passing laws against gaming and the video games industry at large) was at the train stop to promote train safety.

Apparently, like most politicians championing a cause, Sen. Blumenthal or his advisers don't have a clue about the subject matter. This becomes apparent if you watch the short video to your left; he is quite obviously a little too close to the train platform's edge. Perhaps he was demonstrating what not to do near in an area where a train comes rumbling through at high speeds on regular intervals.

The whole thing happened on Friday at a train stop in Milford, Connecticut. With his back turned to the tracks, an unidentified man declares, "Safety, as you know, is paramount…" just as an Amtrak train sped through the station, nearly killing the Senator and putting those around him in grave danger.

Luckily, no one was hurt. You can watch the short video to your left:
