The last time we checked games journalist Andrew Groen's Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for his book, A History of the Great Empires of Eve Online, it had almost tripled its initial goal of $12,500. As of this writing the project sits at $40,899, with 19 more days to go. With the project fully funded and earning way above its initial goal, Groen (pictured, left) continues to kick around ideas to make the project more interesting. One of the big things fans continue to ask for is a reward tier that includes a hardcover edition of the book.
As of this writing Groen has not revealed if offering a hardcover edition is possible or even feasible, but we suspect he will let backers know when he has all the important information he needs to make an informed decision. Some other ideas also still being kicked around by Groen include an audiobook version, and graphical improvements to the paperback and digital versions of the book.
"A History of the Great Empires of Eve Online" is a narrative history book about the politics, warfare, betrayal, and culture that shaped the first decade of CCP Games' popular and long-running space exploration and combat game Eve Online. The book will not chronicle the entire history of the game universe (that would be an impossible feat for anyone to accomplish) but will focus on keys historical moments in the game that changed the universe in interesting ways.
