GTA V Coming to Xbox One and PC Too at Year's End

June 10, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Last night at Sony's E3 press conference the company announced that Grand Theft Auto V would be coming to the PS4 in the fall. What the company did not mention (and why on earth would they?) is that Rockstar's latest title in the hit series would also be coming to the Xbox One and - yes, finally - the PC.

"Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will take full advantage of the power of new generation systems to deliver the ultimate open-world experience," said the studio in an announcement last night.

Sony's Andrew House confirmed last night at the E3 presser that players of the last-gen versions of GTA Online on PS3 and Xbox 360 would be able to transfer their full online progress to the PS4 version.

People behind the petition to bring the game to the PC that has over half a million signatures can now focus on some other issue - like getting Sony to release Bloodborn on PC after the game is launched on PS4. Yes, we are thinking well in advance on From Software's freshly revealed action RPG...

A year late, and I remember GTA IV PC.  Piss off, Rockstar...

Thankfully this is a lot more promising than the GTA IV port because it's being revamped for the current gen of consoles as well as PC. There is much more signficant level of fidelity in this new version when compared to GTA IV console vs PC so I'll be shocked if they botch it up this time around (I will also lose some faith in RockStar).

I think I'd rather them beat Rockstar's freaking office doors down demanding Red Dead Redemption be ported to the PC as well finally...

On one hand I'm happy, since I'm not a console gamer any more to speak of. On the other hand I recall the mess that was GTA IV port for the PC was, and the fact that V will likely require a system with a 64-bit OS for some inane reason...

Having access to better CPU multi-threading and larder amounts of RAM is hardly "inane".
