Nintendo Reveals GameCube Adapter Bundle for Wii U

June 10, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Nintendo announced that a bundle featuring the GameCube controller adapter is coming this holiday season. The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U controller bundle contains a Nintendo GameCube controller and adapter for Wii U. It will be available this holiday season for a recommended price of $99.99, the company revealed during its E3 2014 Digital Event.

The Wii U adapter allows four original Nintendo GameCube or WaveBird controllers to be hooked up to the Wii U for use with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The adapter connects to the Wii U USB port.

A retro Nintendo GameCube controller with a Super Smash Bros. theme will be available separately for $29.99. The bundle, the adapter, and the stand-alone controller will launch the same day as Super Smash Bros. for Wii U this holiday season. The new Amiibo system, which lets players scan action figures into the game, will be released on or near the same date that Super Smash Bros. is released.

If they're making new controllers, shit, I'll buy five!  My GC controllers have started to fall apart, and I'm none too keen on buying third party controllers.
