World’s Largest Game Collection Auctioned Off for $750K

The world's largest video game collection – as certified by Guinness Book of World Records – has been sold for roughly $750,000. Or rather, the winning bid for the collection of between 10,607 to 12,000 games was $750,250. Earlier in the month Buffalo, New York resident Michael Thommason put his massive collection of games up for sale on GameGavel.

The winner of the GameGavel auction was user "peeps_10091970." He'll get all the games, the actual Guinness certificate related to the collection, and a lifetime subscription to Retro Magazine – which includes an autographed copy of its premiere issue featuring the collection he or she just won the bid for. Over 2,600 of the games in the collection are factory-sealed, while over 8,300 are complete with boxes and manuals.
