'Summer Games Done Quick' Charity Event Begins June 22

June 20, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Speed Demos Archive and SpeedRunsLive revealed the dates for their next big Twitch-based charity event, Summer Games Done Quick. Beginning June 22 and running until June 29, a group of friends will gather and try to play and finish a variety of games as quickly as possible, in order to raise cash for Doctors Without Borders. Twitch will stream marathons of the playthroughs throughout the week.

Organizers plan to stream more than 150 gameplay sessions including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy VI, and Halo: Combat Evolved. Famous speed-runners including Cosmowright and Sinister1 will also participate.

Those who donate during the charity event will also be entered into raffles for community prizes.

In January, the group's winter event, Awesome Games Done Quick, raised over $1 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
