Former Epic and Guerrilla Games Developers Form 'Boss Key Productions'

July 7, 2014 - GamePolitics Staff

Former Epic game designer Cliff Bleszinski and Guerrilla Games co-founder Arjan Brussee have formed a new studio in North Carolina called Boss Key Productions. Last week Bleszinski said he would be returning to the world of game development after a two-year break. Cliff Bleszinski left Epic two years ago.

Bleszinski registered the Raleigh, North Carolina-based Boss Key Productions with the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State, listing himself as the CEO and Guerrilla Games co-founder Arjan Brussee as the COO. Brussee and Bleszinski have worked together before, a very long time ago; Brussee was lead programmer on the first two Jazz Jackrabbit platformer games for PC, which Bleszinski helped design.

The news broke over the July 4th weekend, giving Bleszinski an opportunity to make a joke.

"I do not comment on rumors and speculation on the birthday of the nation that could allow a game designer to have a fantastic 20-year run at his first studio and then take nearly two years off only to seek out funding and start his new lean, agile, fun startup in Raleigh, N.C.," Bleszinski told Polygon.

More details on Boss Key are expected tomorrow.
