Microsoft Offers Select Xbox 360 Customers $75 to Buy an Xbox One

A select number of current Xbox 360 users have received an offer from Microsoft via Xbox Live offering them a $75 credit if they purchase an Xbox One from any retailer. How Microsoft is choosing which customers receive this special offer is unknown as of this writing. The promo appears on users' Xbox 360 dashboards and says that it's only for Microsoft's "very best customers."

The offer is for selected Xbox 360 owners in the United States, Canada, and the UK.

The rebate offer is only good through the end of the July, but the credit earned from buying an Xbox One is good for a year. The credit must be activated by October 15th though.

When asked for more details a Microsoft rep. offered Eurogamer the following brief statement:

"This short-term promotion is offered to select Xbox fans in the US, Canada and the UK.  We are always looking for opportunities to bring promotions like this to our customers, but we have nothing further to share at this time."

Who needs the console anyway? I learned my lesson from buying the 360, so all I really need from Xbone is the controller for PC.

(My 360 served me well out at sea, but now the console is sealed away and the controllers are getting worn out.)

Ah yes, just like they supported the original XBox for years after the 360 came out, and it got great games such as oh wait no they threw it under the bus as soon as the 360 hit, and they're doing the same to the 360 now that the Bone is out.

Microsoft plans to support the 360 for years to come… and yet MS wants its most loyal 360 players to move on to the new generation so badly, that they are willing to pay them to do it.

"Very best customers", and yet they haven't bought your new console (at least thus far)…

I do believe you do not know what that phrase means Microsoft…
