Yesterday we reported that Microsoft was considering offering Xbox One users a 24-hour trial on select games. But a Microsoft executive says that the image captured by various outlets – taken after an Xbox One title update – was a "mistake."
"A promotional tile for 'Max: The Curse of Brotherhood' was posted briefly on the US dash in error yesterday," a Microsoft spokesperson tells Eurogamer. "We apologize for any inconvenience."
"We're constantly exploring different ways to offer more benefits to our Xbox Live Gold members and will keep them updated when special offers become available."
While Microsoft calls its appearance a mistake, that does not mean that it isn't planning to offer 24-hour trials on select games to consumers at some point down the road. Given the positive reaction to stories about this interesting new feature from players, it's probably a good idea to make it happen.
