Cloud-based gaming service OnLive and TP Vision have announced a new strategic partnership that will bring the OnLive Game Service on new models of Philips TVs powered by Android that will be released in Europe during 2014 and beyond.
As part of this deal, the OnLive Game Service Android app will be available out-of-the-box alongside other on-demand entertainment apps for music and video. Consumers can use it by connecting a game controller or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to the TV, and signing up or signing in to OnLive if you already have an account). After that they can play hundreds of games directly from their Philips TVs.
TP Vision is the exclusive brand licensee of Philips TVs in Europe and Russia, Middle East, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and selected countries in Asia-Pacific.
"Integrating OnLive directly onto Philips TVs powered by Android is a perfect example of how even the most graphically demanding games can be delivered into the living room without the need for dedicated high-end gaming hardware," said Rick Sanchez, VP for Product and Marketing at OnLive. "OnLive delivers gaming with the same instant-on convenience and benefits that is driving consumers’ surging interest for on-demand video and music services."
