Verizon to FCC: We Won't Sue If You Don't Reclassify Broadband

SCEA Settles With FTC Over PS Vita False Advertising Claims

Sony Computer Entertainment America has settled a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over claims that it falsely advertised the capabilities of its PS Vita, according to Joystiq. From late 2011 to early 2012. As part of the settlement SCEA has agreed to provide refunds to Vita customers who purchased the device before June 1, 2012. They will dole out a $25 cash or credit refund, or a $50 voucher for select games and services. Read more

Valve Makes Changes to Trading Steam Gift Codes

T-Mobile Adds More Music Services to 'Music Freedom' Program

U.S.-based mobile phone provider T-Mobile US announced that it has exempted 14 streaming music services from its data caps. Those services that are now getting an exemption include such notables as Google Play Music, Xbox Music, SoundCloud, RadioTunes, Digitally Imported, Fit Radio, Fresca Radio, JazzRadio, Live365, Mad Genius Radio, radioPup, radio.com, RockRadio, and Saavn. T-Mobile does not charge these services to avoid being part of its data caps unlike other mobile providers like AT&T.

PSA: 'Dark Souls II' Coming to Xbox One and PS4

CCP Games Shuts Down Fan-Made 'Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines' Project

A fan-made project to recreate the Troika Games-developed Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (originally published by Activision) using Unity has been shut down by CCP Games.

CCP Games owns the popular vampire-themed RPG world now, and according to the group behind Project Vaulderie, it has sent them a Cease and Desists letter. The non-commercial remake has been put on hold, but the developers are continue to explore ways to make the project a reality at some point.

Report: Activision Using DMCA Takedowns on 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' Cheat and Glitch Videos

According to this Ars Technica report, Activision is using DMCA takedowns on YouTube videos that tell players how to use glitches and exploits in its latest Call of Duty title, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Over the weekend video network Machinima sent out a tweet warning other YouTube video makers that Activision was cracking down on videos that highlighted possible ways to cheat in Advanced Warfare:

Richard Garriott’s 'Shroud of the Avatar' Now Available on Steam Early Access

Ultima series creator Richard Garriott and his game development studio Portalarium announced that its crowd-funded, online-focused RPG for PC Shroud of the Avatar is now available via the Steam Early Access program.

Portalarium says that the Early Access program gives players the chance to try out the game as it continues to evolve. Shroud of the Avatar has already raised more than $5 million from public crowd funding efforts on Kickstarter and via the game's official web site.

American McGee Adds Gambling to 'Akaneiro: Demon Hunters'

Game developer American McGee and his company Spicy Horse are adding real-world gaming to one of its existing games, according to this Gamasutra interview with McGee. McGee confirmed with the publication that his crowd-funded online role-playing game Akaneiro: Demon Hunters will have a slots game added into thanks to a partnership with gambling game company Odobo.

RuneScape Well of Goodwill Raises $120K for Three Charities

RuneScape maker Jagex Games Studio announced today that the long-running MMORPG's community has helped the 2014 Well of Goodwill charity drive beat the record set during last year's campaign. The month-long initiative, which encourages players to use in-game gold pieces and bonds (which have a real-world value) into real-world donations. Last year's charitable effort raised $90,000 for a number of American and British-based charitable organizations. This year's event has raised more than $120,000 to-date - with 7 days still to go.

Glu Mobile's Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is one of 25 apps on iOS devices that will help RED and Apple raise money for AIDS, research and relief on December 1 - World Aids Day. From now until December 1, Glu will donate proceeds from the purchase of the game to the Global Fund. The money will be used to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
