New 'World of Warcraft' Update lays groundwork for 'WoW Tokens'

Blizzard is set to release a new update to its still-popular MMORPG World of Warcraft today that should lay the groundwork for a new way of in-game financing called WoW Tokens.

WoW Tokens allow players to "securely exchange" in-game gold and game time. The new system will be released a few weeks after this week's update, according to what Blizzard has said publicly. It will be deployed in Latin America, North America and Oceania first.

TSI pauses 'Seven Dragon Saga' Kickstarter

Apparently we missed the fact that Tactical Simulations Interactive (TSI) decided to cancel postpone its crowdfunding campaign for its PC role-playing game Seven Dragon Saga on Kickstarter yesterday. While the Kickstarter was not on a trajectory to raise the $450,000 it was aiming for, it did manage to bring in over $106,000 from 1,860 backers before TSI pulled the plug.

Yale play2PREVENT partners with Yogome for educational games

Video game research initiative Yale play2PREVENT (p2P) Lab has signed a two-year partnership with Yogome to develop educational mobile games for elementary school children. Researchers in the p2P Lab will work with Yogome to develop math, science, computer programming, and sustainability games. Games developed through the collaboration will be based on the Common Core framework and adhere strictly to child privacy standards.

From Software working on update to deal with long load times in 'Bloodborne'

After Digital Foundry ran tests on the freshly released Bloodborne to gauge various aspects of the game, it found that loads times in between character deaths and revivals took an incredibly long time. Daybreak moves one million units of 'H1Z1' on Steam Early Access

According to a tweet from Daybreak Game Studio president John Smedley, over one million copies of H1Z1 have been sold to date on Steam Early Access. The online open-world zombie survival game for PC hit Steam 'Early Access' program on January 15.

It had a rocky start at launch, but Daybreak (or the artist formerly known as Sony Online Entertainment) seems to have fixed a lot of the game's early quirks, bugs, and general shortcomings.

The Greens are best known as the co-creators of That Dragon, Cancer, an adventure game that chronicles the Green family's journey as they face the challenges, hardships, highs and lows of having a child with a terminal disease. Their son Joel died last year after a long battle with cancer. The Greens call That Dragon, Cancer a love letter to the beautiful baby boy.

FCC faces first legal challenges to Open Internet Order changes

It was inevitable that telecoms would sue the Federal Communications Commission in federal court over the reclassification of mobile and broadband service providers as common carriers under Title II of the Telecommunications Act, but two entities have decided to get a head start on it this week. Blizzard goes after 'DOTA Legend' in Taiwan for copyright infringement

Blizzard Entertainment has filed a complaint against DOTA Legend, a popular Chinese mobile game that topped the charts in China and Taiwan throughout 2014, with authorities in Taiwan. The game, which translates to "Turret Legend," is published in China and Taiwan by Longtu. The company said that it has filed a formal complaint with the Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office alleging that DOTA Legend infringes upon game characters and scenes from its popular MMORPG World of Warcraft and the Warcraft game universe. 'MLB 14' losing online play in UK

According to this post on the UK PlayStation Blog, Sony will stop offering online support for MLB 14 The Show for the game in the region. The PS4, PS3, and PS Vita versions of the game will lose support on June 18 when Sony takes the servers permanently offline.
