'Resident Evil 2' fan remake gets Capcom's attention

July 30, 2015 - GamePolitics Staff

Capcom has finally taken notice of a fan-created Resident Evil 2 remake and is now asking the community at large what they think about it. Normally when a company sees a fan remake it does one of two things: it files a copyright claim against them and gets it shut down; or it simply ignores it.

Capcom is showing that it is at least willing to take a different approach towards these types of things.

Capcom Enables Local Coop Play in 'Resident Evil: Revelations 2'

March 3, 2015 - GamePolitics Staff

After saying it left local cooperative play out of the PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 due to stability issues, Capcom had decided to add it into the game this week. The company's change of heart was likely due to a mod released last week that enabled local co-op play (showing that it did not affect performance in any way). While that mod is still available for use, Capcom decided to release local co-op play alongside the Raid Mode introduced in a recently released patch.

No Local Co-op in PC Version of 'Resident Evil Revelations 2'

February 25, 2015 - GamePolitics Staff

Those who bought the PC version of Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Steam learned shortly after their purchase that the game does not contain local cooperative play, despite it being advertised as a feature on the game's Steam product page. Console owners of the game apparently do have the ability to play local co-op.

So why did Capcom remove this feature from the PC port of the game even as the product page on Steam STILL (as of this writing, at least) claims it supports it?

Poll: Would You Rather Nintendo Buy Capcom or Sega?

February 17, 2015 - Andrew Eisen

Towards the end of last weekend's podcast, one of our listeners asked me an interesting question:

Would I rather see Nintendo buy Capcom or Sega?

As a fan of all three companies, that's a tough question for me so I said I'd give it some thought. Interested in what others think, I posed the question on my Twitter, Facebook and in our very own Shout box. You all seem to be having a good time with the question so I thought I'd make it this week's poll.

Capcom Removes GameCube From 'Resident Evil HD'

January 20, 2015 - GamePolitics Staff

Capcom has released a remastered version of the 2002 GameCube Resident Evil remake, but one small change redacts a GameCube specific gag that some fans might notice.

Resident Evil HD offers the same core gameplay and story from the original 1996 PlayStation Resident Evil and the new features added into the GameCube version like new enemies. But one thing the game does not contain is a specific reference to the Nintendo platform.

December 10, 2014 - Andrew Eisen

You know, I've had a hard time recently with these polls.  I ask, "Hey readers!  Do you think X or Y will happen?"  And then, within 24 hours, BAM!  One of the options happens and my poll is rendered pointless.  Argh!  It's not fair!  Not fair, I say!

This week's poll asked if the New Nintendo 3DS would be region free.  Nintendo answered that for us this morning when it confirmed that it would indeed continue the archaic practice of region locking its gaming hardware.

Oh well.

I guess we need a new poll but it's a bit late in the week so how about something goofy?

November 1, 2013 - GamePolitics Staff

Capcom predicts that its next game in its third-person zombie apocalypse series, Dead Rising 3, will sell over 1.2 million copies on Xbox One. This prediction on sales of the Xbox One exclusive was part of a financial document for the first half of the financial year ending March 31, 2014. While Capcom might be excited about that number, it's a lot lower than the original game for Xbox 360, which sold 1.8 million copies. The multi-platform sequel did much better with 2.8 million units sold.
