According to an article in the New York Post, Electronic Arts is exploring the possibility of a purchase with two private equity firms: KKR and Providence Equity Partners. The sources feeding the NYP this information claim that all parties involved are in the early discussion phase of the process.

"They’ve made it known they’d do a deal at $20 a share," one unnamed source familiar with the company told the New York Post.

Rumor: Bethesda Acquires S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Games Rights

Bethesda has no comment on a rumor circulating this morning that it purchased the game rights to the popular action game series S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The rumor was started by Ukrainian blogger Sergey Galyonkin, who cited a "very reliable source" close to the situation. The reason that many media outlets have run with this particular rumor is because Galyonkin has proven to be a reliable source himself in the past when it comes to things GSC Gameworld-related. He predicted that trouble within the studio before it became public earlier in the year.

Speaking to TorrentFreak, Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom alleges that Vice President Joe Biden ordered the Megaupload shutdown at the behest of former Connecticut Senator (D) and current Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) President Chris Dodd. He claims that he has information from a "reliable source" that the Megaupload case and the subsequent takedown of the file storage site was a "gift to Hollywood."

Pachter: Xbox 720 in Spring 2014

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter expects that Microsoft’s next-generation "Xbox 720" console will be released in the Spring of 2014, adding that he expects the new console to function much like a set top box. Anyone that has followed Microsoft in the last ten years knows that the company has been working on a set top box strategy for a very long time - even before it considered making a video game console.

Pachter adds that he does not believe the speculation on a late 2013 release.

Report: Gaikai and Sony in Deal to Stream PlayStation Classics

According to several published reports, Sony will bring backwards compatibility back to the PlayStation 3 via a new partnership with cloud-based game streaming company Gaikai. Report: Wii U to Carry a Retail Price of $300

How much are consumers willing to pay for Nintendo's latest console, the Wii U? According to one report, Nintendo thinks they will be more than happy to plunk down $300. According to Forget The Box, "sources closely involved" in manufacturing Nintendo products claim that it costs $180 to make the Wii U  and an additional $50 for the tablet controller. Because of that, the sources say, Nintendo will set the retail price of the Wii U at no less than $300.

Report: Australian Stores Holding Up a GameStop Acquisition of GAME

According to an MCV report that relies on anonymous sources, GameStop is interested in buying troubled UK games retailer GAME, but doesn't want to buy the stores in Australia because it conflicts with the business operations they already have there with EB Games. GameStop runs 6,627 stores in 17 territories, which includes a number of Australian EB Games stores it took over after the 2005 merger with retailer Electronics Boutique.
