Goldtree: I would've assumed the opposite, at least where reading something slightly over one's reading level was concerned. Obviously an elementary school kid would have trouble reading something written at a college level, but an undergrad reading a postgrad piece would probably be able to understand it - in fact, they would understand it better, thanks to the higher level of discourse. On the flip side, reading something well under your comprehension level could be pretty boring, like putting down Dubliners and picking up Green Eggs & Ham (something I've been known to do on the weekends.)
Also, having had my interest piqued by those of you wondering whether JT's presence had any effect, I went back to this nicely bloated entry, 200 comments including four by the man himself. Result: junior high. Still begs the question if it's actually him or just the effect he has on others, but I'll leave that one to the punters.
