I get why people dont like the effects Citizens United has had, but dont forget that case was about getting money to publish a book. as far as I am concerned raising money to publish a book a free peach.

@RedMage: He was part of that, but he wasn’t the only one, and many other justices likely would have in his place without all the other harm – most notably Citizens United, perhaps the most harmful decision in recent history.

@TrustyGem: Well… that’s… Ugh, you know, if there were a way to get rid of Supreme Court justices other than through death or retirement, it would be easier to think of this as a tragedy. The system sets us up to wish for the deaths of bad justices. And for the sake of good taste, let’s just say I’m speaking purely hypothetically.

The PC gaming show ran for over two hours last time. As long as they can reign that in and actually show some games, it’ll be an improvement. Not necessarily good, but I’ll take “not as bad” at this point.

So a few days ago Ark Survival Evolved updated and with it came an Anticheating system called BattlEye. A lot of people are pissed over on the community hub. But one comment I saw was interesting. Anyone here familiar with EU laws? It sounds like BattlEye might go against it because not only does the EULA it requires you to accept say it can/will scan ally our files. But it will also send any “suspect” files it finds back to a server.

Oh and there is a very big lack of a privacy agreement for it as well. Nothing to help protect your data, which it is scanning.

@zippy -comically Jaw Drops through Floor- again. Well that was even more lesser(in price) than Dying light’s $10 million monstrosity of a PR Move.

TrustyGem The better props of it go for 130-230, you’d think they would price it at around 400ish, then again limited production means sell what you can make rather than sell to sustain making it…

@AE and EZK, so I just got a warning by firefox on the site. In my experience this kind of error usually shows up because of a bad ad. You might want to look into that.

@AE until Youtube Forces the Copyright holders to do what you say(about Content ID), I’ll probably Decamp to Dailymotion for Video On-demand and Twitch for Game streaming as I’m not getting involved with content creators revolting against YouTube’s Anti-Content Creator Policies

      ZippyDSM ( User Karma: -7 ) says:

Dailymotion has a similar content ID system… some vids are auto targeted after upload. Its not as insane/random as youtube but they have it… so dose twitch…

  10. 0
Andrew Eisen ( User Karma: 4 ) says:

I think the only thing Content ID should do is alert the copyright holder. That’s it. Just send them a message saying, “Come look at this video and decide what you want to do.” Make it so an actual real person has to watch the video and make a judgement call.

    ZippyDSM ( User Karma: -7 ) says:

I’d wager that it is bot driven but also IP conglomerates can easily abuse the DCMA take down system across the net with little effort or consequence….

  12. 0
    TrustyGem ( User Karma: 0 ) says:

@AE that’s why I Didn’t like Youtube’s Content ID system to begin With, entrusting the Copyright bot with powers will end up causing Youtube’s Copyright System(and Content ID) to Be a Total Hot Mess for content creators in general.

Andrew Eisen ( User Karma: 4 ) says:

I would wager the process is entirely automated and no one at Nintendo has seen or is even aware of my video. It just set it up so if Content ID finds something, it is claimed, any dispute is rejected (probably appeals too) and that’s the end of it.

    TrustyGem ( User Karma: 0 ) says:

@AE I think Nintendo Knew That They kinda Screwed up with Flagging your video, hopefully with me talking to Bill Trinen(Letting him know about your Situation) The Copyright Claim will be Rescinded, and if possible I’ll let him know about the Two articles on GP regarding your situation on youtube

Andrew Eisen ( User Karma: 4 ) says:

Regarding my copyright dispute with Nintendo, I noticed the view count has not gone up. Does this mean Nintendo hasn’t even watched the video it claimed?

Wow. Couldn’t even sit through that. Maybe he has a great point or observation somewhere but I gave up before the two minute mark.

@mr. lemming If Nintendo did that then that could be grounds for Criminal Charges, but their not THAT stupid(keep in mind, the Whole Gaming industry is on Thin ice(in term’s of me getting Frustrated with said industry) right now Where I’m concerned)

Man, not a lot of thought went into that poll. It asks follow-up questions even when the answer to a previous question doesn’t merit a follow-up (“Do you want to see kids’ content at E3?” “No.” “What kinds of kids’ content do you want to see at E3?”, etc.).

And a lot of the questions needed an “I don’t care” option, but there was none. You are forced to make choices anyway, though. Hope my BS answers aren’t too much of a monkey wrench…

    TrustyGem ( User Karma: 0 ) says:

@AE I already Sent a Tweet about your current Situation on YouTube to Bill Trinen to see if he can help regarding the Video in Question so They can try and rescind the content id, I will Show him the 2 articles to further explain the situation between you and Nintendo

the best thing Nintendo could do is let NOA manage everything outside japan, including online policy. all of this comes from their japan office.

I’m sorry for getting frustrated at the nintendo-Andrew Eisen YouTube Debacle, it’s just the situation got on my nerves ever since that content id-ing of Andrew Eisen’s video

    MechaCrash ( User Karma: 3 ) says:

Nintendo is what it is because they’re allowed to do their own thing. If they got bought, they would be ground into soulless mush. I would rather that not happen.

    TrustyGem ( User Karma: 0 ) says:

@AE My suggestion is more better, because the Company in Question(I Prefer Microsoft as a potential Buyer of Nintendo Corp) because the company(that Acquired them) Will Tell them to Unclinch their Butt from thier head in regards to fair Use or They will Be forced to Remove Nintendo’s head from thier butt in that case

    TrustyGem ( User Karma: 0 ) says:

@AE I still feel that Nintendo Needs to Sell itself to a company that Will not allow a Extremely Restricted YouTube policy like Nintendo has, in addition I blame YouTube and Google For Cowering to Big Copyright (like the MPAA, RIAA and ESA).

Rule 1 of PC ports: If a Japanese studio is porting a game several years after it originally came out, run away. The handful of times it works is overshadowed by the mountain of times it doesn’t.

  26. 0
    MechaCrash ( User Karma: 3 ) says:

Well, yeah, that’s why there’s no excuse for the PC Tales game to run as badly as it does. Namco-Bandai clearly just does not care, and that is the problem. I think we’re in agreement on that point.

Sounds like Paypal is only banning VPNs that advertise the use in blocking geo-restrictions, but not others (even though they’d work as such). It’s like banning “prostitutes” but not “escorts.” It’ll just make VPNs a bit more coy about their language.

    MechaTama31 ( User Karma: 5 ) says:

Given that Namco Bandai still makes console games now, and consoles now are more PC-like than they’ve ever been in terms of hardware… I’m also not buying that they don’t know how.

  30. 0
    MechaCrash ( User Karma: 3 ) says:

Graphical muscle has increased in 13 years, but it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t know how to use it. And learning how to use it was something Namco-Bandai was clearly not interested in doing.

    MechaTama31 ( User Karma: 5 ) says:

Crash: Yeah, but… 13 *years* worth of advances in computing speed. I’ll buy that a console’s contemporary PCs can’t always match whatever special optimizations the console’s fixed hardware had. But to continue to have that performance “edge” over 13 years’ worth of advances in computing hardware? I don’t think so.

  32. 0
    SoraHjort ( User Karma: 5 ) says:

Considering it took one guy 14 minutes to fix a couple of issues people were having (frame rate and resolution). They couldn’t been arsed to do that themselves?

The hardware wasn’t as powerful, but it was standardized and the game was written around it. Doing a PC version takes effort they are clearly not willing to exert.

  34. 0
    MechaTama31 ( User Karma: 5 ) says:

I don’t understand how they could have trouble getting a game to run smoothly, when it ran fine 13 years ago on hardware that wasn’t even as powerful as the PCs back then.

    eathdemon ( User Karma: 1 ) says:

the irony is that the emulated version (gamecube) runs better, than the port. it runs at 60 fps vs 30fps. why would you ever buy the port. I get wanting a legal copy, but namco has never made a good pc port.

Yeah, a lot of campaigns’ stretch goals seem very… Molyneux-esque. There’s passion behind it, but they may be biting off more than they can chew, and ending up with something worse than if they had kept to their original focus.

  37. 0
    Infophile ( User Karma: 2 ) says:

Honestly, stretch goals like that make me have more faith in them. When the stretch goals include more content, it always seems to result in the product being delayed or the creators not budgeting their money properly.

No surprise that the Offworld Collection hit its funding goal today. Good on ’em. Lot of time to hit their nifty stretch goals.
