I propose that rather than stressing out over whether an instance is censorship or not, let’s instead discuss whether it’s a good idea or not and why. Much more fun and productive discussion, don’t you think?

Yeah, a lot of campaigns’ stretch goals seem very… Molyneux-esque. There’s passion behind it, but they may be biting off more than they can chew, and ending up with something worse than if they had kept to their original focus.

Honestly, stretch goals like that make me have more faith in them. When the stretch goals include more content, it always seems to result in the product being delayed or the creators not budgeting their money properly.

No surprise that the Offworld Collection hit its funding goal today. Good on ’em. Lot of time to hit their nifty stretch goals.

Oh. Yes, I agree that more people should realize that while there is compelling evidence, and it’s very likely to happen, it’s not yet confirmed.

Every single person on Twitter saying “IT’S HAPPENING” when all we have is a bunch of clickbait using new “evidence”.

Yeah, it would seem that we have two competing rights in these situations. First is copyright in a work of art. The second is publicity rights. It can easily be argued that the use of the tattoo in exercising publicity rights is a fair use of the tattoo, but that is up to a court to decide. Unless Congress wants to intervene and address it in law. But that could make the whole problem worse when you consider Congress’ track record on copyright issues.

Don’t know. It would be interesting to see how a court would rule. Would the design be a part of the person’s likeness? Is it silly to expect a studio to pay the tattoo artist when they cast Mike Tyson in a movie? Seems a step too far to me.

    MechaCrash ( User Karma: 3 ) says:

Well, yeah, I used Iron Man to illustrate the point of “the inked person doesn’t have copyright on the design, so what happens when they sell their likeness which includes the copyrighted design.” Perhaps I phrased it poorly.

  14. 0
Andrew Eisen ( User Karma: 5 ) says:

We’re talking about a tattoo artist having a copyright on his or her own original design, not tattooing copyrighted imagery on someone else. Still, interesting question.

  15. 0
    MechaCrash ( User Karma: 3 ) says:

The rights to the tattoo. If they belong to the artist, then they aren’t really the wearer’s (I guess you’d call them that?) to give, are they? Like if I get Iron Man tattooed on my forehead, and then I sell my likeness including the ink (shirts with my face on them or something, I don’t know), I would imagine I’d hear from Marvel, because the Iron Man may be on my head, but it’s their IP. Why would it be different just because it’s the artist’s original design?

I’m pretty much alone on this but The Witness does nothing to capture my attention. There’s “not wanting to spoil anything” and then there’s “not showing me enough to pique my interest.” The Witness falls into the latter category for me.

  17. 0
Andrew Eisen ( User Karma: 5 ) says:

Well, the artist can copyright the design. WB reproduced it without permission and settled with the artist so take what you will from that. But, if you get the rights to someone’s likeness and that likeness includes a copyrighted design, I think you have a better case.

  18. 0
    MechaCrash ( User Karma: 3 ) says:

That’s actually a legally interesting question: who owns the rights to a tattoo? Just because your design is on someone’s skin and not their clothes doesn’t mean you have up your rights to the design, but depicting someone without their ink is arguably inaccurate.

Jaltoid spoke up about the Fine Bros in their business dealings in the Fine Bros were looking for animators. https://youtu.be/EYGRFeU8YDE As a side note, the video has been unlisted to avoid drama, which is a little too late since it wasn’t originally unlisted. But do keep that in mind when viewing and discussing it. (If you do so that is)

dang, that’s unfortunate. I suppose there could be a way to set it up to push when a file change occurs, and to pull periodically. But that’s a lot of hassle to setup.

The only other service I’ve used in the past started to do some weird things a few years back. Including continually hounding you for money. Can’t remember the service name. But it was the reason I went “you know what? Google already knows way too much about me. They can hold my art files for me”

Ahhh yeah, that would be a problem. In that case you might try using Wine with it. But I don’t know how well that will work. I’ve never gotten Wine to work for me for who knows why. It does look like BT Sync is on linux though, https://www.getsync.com/platforms/desktop

But as I said, the downsides to it is that you have to have atleast two machines, and you wouldn’t beable to share specific files with people.

Though you could set up a folder that syncs with other people that is set to read only. So there is that.

(Con’t) If you have multiple computers, you may consider BitTorrent Sync as another alternative. It effectively makes your own computers be your cloud service. Course it does have the downside of not being able to share with people.

@EZK Google Drive is a alright cloud storage service. Free for so many gigs, and 25 gigs extra if you sub. From my experiance, they haven’t charged me unless I go over the free limit. And when I do go over, it means I just need to clear out the trash.

Germany, Russia, and china of all country fallowing close behind at roughly 10% each. the US is normally 30 to 40% of all sales.

Oh we’re talking about the new DC news stuff? Here’s my thoughts on the animated stuff. THEY NEED TO STICK TO ONE UNIVERSE. I don’t care if it’s going back to the old DCAU, or creating some sort of… Neo-DCAU or something. The stuff they put out hasn’t been bad, just… I long for when things were in one unified universe when it came to the animated stuff. From Batman (and Beyond), to Superman, To Static Shock, to JL and JLU, they all kept to the same universe.

Yuki, Not animated tv shows. They released some really good tv shows in the past, but now they want everything to be Teen Titans Go!. The Animated movies have been mostly good but few really great ones. But they are also releasing a lot of crap on that front too like that Batman Monster Mayhem movie and the others like it.
